Have you ever felt awkward or inadequate trying to talk to someone about Christ? I have. Sometimes hiding seems like a better option, but we have the sense God wants us to speak. So, what do we do?
Elaine and I were standing in line waiting to vote in the election. I had never met her before. I'm not sure how we started talking about God...it just happened. She informed me she is Buddhist, believes in reincarnation, has a daughter who is a Wiccan, and she believes there is no God. The people standing around us suddenly got very quiet as they listened to our conversation. I didn't know if I stood among friends or ...
I told Elaine I believe Genesis 1:1. She laughed. She thought the notion of God creating everything was absurd. I admit it seemed futile to say anything further...but...I kept talking. I had to. I was possibly her only chance to hear about God. I wanted her to know there is One who loves her with an everlasting love. When it was my turn to vote I hugged her goodbye and I told her God loves her. So many people are like this precious woman. They are lost for eternity unless God intervenes. I pray God speaks to her heart and confirms He is real.
This is meant to encourage you. There are a lot of lost people out there. Someone's eternity doesn't depend on your eloquent words but on the power of God. Be faithful to share the gospel when His Spirit prompts you to. Any feelings of inadequacy are irrelevant. I am exhorting myself too. I love this verse. Daniel 12:3 "They that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament, and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars, forever and forever." Jesus has been given all power in Heaven and Earth. We are to go in His name, His authority (remember ~ feelings are irrelevant) and share His gospel. Trust Him to speak through you. Be brave. Pray God gives you open doors to share with others, and the courage to speak when He does. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." Romans 1:16 Who cares if you look foolish? I pray there will be people standing in Heaven because we lived. Blessings, Beloved of God.
Thanks for this Rena x
Yes, sharing the Gospel edifies us as much as it does the person on the receiving end as it's an act of obedience in love to our Father. Our imperfect fumbling is a further testimony ( as you put so beautifully put ) .. that it 'doesn't depend on your eloquent words'.
Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
The only thing I want is beautiful feet! xxx
Thx for the encouragement to share Rena. When I get the opportunity I tell store cashiers I will pray for them (after they’ve shared) - it’s not difficult to get them to talk once they know you care.
I pray for more opportunities to share as you did 🙏 Donna
I'm never ashamed to let others know my belief.
