Finding Purity in a Broken World...

Updated: Mar 13

"Who may abide in your tabernacle? Who may live on your holy mountain?

He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart." Psalm 15:1, 2

There is a weight to the Word of God that hits us right in the center of our pride. When we look at the scriptures, the message is clear and uncompromising: God requires holiness.

He doesn’t ask for "better behavior" or a "sincere effort to be nice." He asks for purity. He asks for hands that are clean and hearts that are undivided. For many of us, that feels like an impossible mountain to climb. How can we, with all our flaws and failures, ever hope to stand in the presence of a perfect God?

The Divine Paradox: Holiness vs. Humanity

The truth is a hard pill to swallow: we cannot entertain sin and remain in right standing with God. Light and darkness cannot occupy the same space. However, the moment we realize we can’t meet His standard on our own is the moment we are finally ready to receive His grace.

  • The Reality: We can never be perfect in our own strength.

  • The Struggle: We cannot work our way into righteousness or "fix" our hearts through willpower.

  • The Verdict: Without Him, we can do nothing of eternal value.

The Way of the Child

In Matthew 18:3, Jesus gives us the key to the Kingdom, and it isn't a list of rules—it’s a change of state.

"Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

Think about a child. They don’t provide for themselves, they don’t argue their way into their parents' love, and they don't pretend to be self-sufficient. They simply trust. They abide.

Becoming "innocent as a child" doesn't mean we pretend we’ve never sinned; it means we rely entirely on the Father’s provision. We exchange our "filthy rags" of self-righteousness for the purity that only Christ can provide.

How to Walk in Purity Today

If you are wondering how to have clean hands and a pure heart in a world that feels so messy, the answer is found in abiding.

  1. Accept the Free Gift:

Stop trying to pay for a debt that Christ has already settled. Accept the forgiveness offered on the cross.

  2. Ask for a New Heart:

Like the Psalmist, our daily prayer should be, "Create in me a clean heart, O God." This is His work, not ours.

  3. Lean on the Holy Spirit:

We cannot speak truth or walk uprightly without the enabling power of the Spirit. He is the engine; we are simply the vessel.

  4. Abide Constantly:

Purity isn't a destination we reach; it’s a relationship we maintain. When we stay connected to the Vine, His life flows through us.

A Final Thought for you, the Beloved

You are loved with an everlasting love. God isn't looking for you to "get it all together" before you come to Him. He is looking for the trust of a child who says, "Father, I can't do this without You." Trust Him today. He is the one who makes you holy. He is the one who makes you whole.

"Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven". Matthew 18:3

Blessings, Beloved of God.
