Before the foundations of the Earth, before God breathed life into Adam, He knew who your mother would be. He gave her the ability to carry you for months in the womb and nurture you after birth. Hopefully, she nurtured you with love, kindness, and compassion.
But... Mothers aren't always only the ones who carried us in the womb. Sometimes, there are "mothers" in our lives who carry us in their hearts. My grandmother was my "mother"until I was around four. I have had many "mothers", as I lived in many homes as I grew up.
Mom Morgan was special. I look forward to meeting her in Heaven one day (she's already there). She made me Kool-aid and jello, baked me a birthday cake, nursed me when I had the measles, refused to let me go out for Halloween because she said it wasn't safe ~but made my night special with a movie and a bowl of treats instead. Small things...but so huge to me. Mothers, it's the little things you do your child will remember. Well, maybe the big things too.
Mothers can provide love, encouragement, and comfort through the storms of life. God sent an amazing "mother" into my life when I needed her most. I was moments away from being signed over as a ward of the government by my actual mother, when God intervened. Alice, my mother's sister, took me in when no one else wanted me. She gave me a home, a hope, and a future. I hate to think where I would be without that amazing woman.
God gave me the privilege of being a mother. I have five amazing children. Don't all moms think their children are amazing? Being a mother has been the most challenging thing I have ever done ~ yet, it has been the most rewarding. If you are a mother you understand that statement. Mothers, the only things you can take with you to Heaven are your children. I pray our children will be there. Isaiah 49:25 is a promise from God about that. "But this is what the Lord says: “Yes, captives will be taken from warriors, and plunder retrieved from the fierce; I will contend with those who contend with you, and I will save your children." What a precious promise. If your mother is alive, I hope you tell her you love her. Please forgive her mistakes. She's only human. Remember the cool things she has done for you. Dwell on the beautiful things. Maybe she made you jello? Here is a short, cool video about mothers. Blessings, Beloved of God.
