What does it mean to be a "diligent seeker" of God?
Does it mean looking to Him always and asking Him to fill us so full of Himself that nothing of our own nature peeks out? That would be amazing. But sometimes, diligence is found in a single moment of obedience. Spoiler alert: The following story is very unusual.
The Hunger for More
My husband and I had asked God for nearly seven years for a child. During that season, we were with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) in Texas. One weekend, we were invited to help at a Bible camp. The "pay" was simply the promise of great food. The food was a bit sparse in YWAM, so the bus quickly filled up with eager volunteers! I’m not complaining; I’m just giving you the context of why we were all so excited to be there.
An Unexpected Invitation
The first night, after a long shift in the camp kitchen, the group decided to hang out and watch a movie. I was about to join my friends when I felt a distinct impression on my heart. The Lord was nudging me not to go with the group—but to stay behind and spend time with Him. I listened. As I sat alone, I opened my Bible to Hebrews 11:6:
“God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
I intended to keep reading, but the Lord stopped me. He asked me a question that left me shocked:
"How do you want to be rewarded?"
I was stunned. I didn't feel like a "diligent seeker"; I just felt like someone who had skipped a movie. But God’s grace is often found in the quiet spaces we clear for Him.
The Promise Fulfilled
I felt led to look up Psalm 127:3. My heart skipped a beat when I read the words:
"Children are a heritage of the Lord, the fruit of the womb is His reward."
In that moment, God spoke to my heart. He told me we were going to have a baby girl, and we were to name her Sarah Beth Groot. Why that specific name? Because the initials S.B.G. would stand for "Sent by God." Guess what our first child’s name is?

Final Thoughts
God is so faithful. Whether you have been waiting seven years or seventy, know that He sees your heart. He isn't looking for perfection; He is looking for those who will simply pull away from the crowd to sit with Him.
Trust Him. He loves you." For he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him". Hebrews 11:6
Blessings, Beloved of God.
